Yes, this is normal in a clean environment. Try scanning slower and closer — within 10–30 cm of the object you’re checking. Make sure you’ve selected the right mode for what you’re looking for (e.g. RF mode for wireless signals, lens finder for cameras). Turn off your own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth first to reduce background noise. If your phone or laptop is nearby and the detector picks up nothing, the area is likely clean.

High signal readings in a busy area (hotel lobby, office) are usually from nearby phones, routers, and smart devices — not hidden cameras. To isolate: move to the specific area you want to scan, turn off your own devices, then re-scan. Signals that appear only near a specific object (like a smoke detector or clock) and stay consistent deserve a closer look. Use Smart AI mode to help filter persistent patterns from general background noise.

Don’t panic. First, switch to Smart AI mode and re-scan from multiple angles to confirm the reading is consistent. Then physically inspect the object — look for a pinhole, odd lens glint, or unusual wiring. If you’re in a rental or hotel, photograph it, do not touch it, and report it to the property manager or local authorities. Switch to Magnetic GPS Detection mode. Move the detector slowly along the underside of your car, inside wheel arches, under the bumpers, and inside the trunk. Trackers are usually attached magnetically. A strong magnetic reading in an unusual spot — especially one with no obvious metal fastener — is worth investigating. Check the manual for the recommended sweep pattern.

Battery life depends on the mode and screen brightness. RF scanning and Smart AI mode consume more power. For longer sessions, lower the screen brightness and use targeted modes rather than leaving it in continuous scan. Fully charge before a scan session.
